International students are welcome to apply to any of the degree, diploma and certificate programs on the A-Z program list. They can explore them through the list or by reading the International Programs at a Glance brochure, which is available in seven languages. With numerous courses to choose from, students are sure to find subjects that align with their passions and career goals.
The Academic Calendar includes a comprehensive overview of each program, admission requirements, regulations, student plan, learning outcomes, career potential and additional relevant information.

Review the specific admission requirements listed on each program’s website, including academic criteria and any additional requirements such as résumés, references, portfolios or work experience.
Be sure to check deadlines and confirm that the minimum qualifications are met, especially for competitive programs, which may have higher standards or additional criteria.
MacEwan University evaluates high school courses based on the Alberta Education curriculum. While this page outlines these categories and provides examples, it is not an exhaustive list, so specific programs may have different admission requirements for certain subjects or groups.

If the student’s primary language is not English, proof of English language proficiency (ELP) must be provided with the application. This requirement ensures the student has the best opportunity for success at MacEwan.
Apply online at ApplyAlberta. There is a non-refundable application fee to complete the online application.
For academic records from outside of Canada, we require specific documents to assess the application for admission. Check the document requirements for the appropriate country and follow the process to submit documents by the deadline.
Estimate the costs expected in a single term. Fewer than nine credits in a fall or winter term will be charged the international tuition rate for nine credits. Other costs will be charged based on the number of credits enrolled.

Search the database for the scholarships, awards and bursaries that are available to international students by choosing “international” under “student status.”
In addition to tuition and fees, students need to plan for the day-to-day costs of living in Alberta such as food, accommodation and socializing. Print the cost-of-living estimate and include it with the study permit application.

The Students’ Association of MacEwan University (SAMU) enriches the student experience through a variety of programs and services. Governed by elected student representatives, SAMU works closely with MacEwan University and other community partners to create an engaging, dynamic and supportive campus for all students.
