CAREERS & EXPERIENCE
Faculty & Staff Resources
As staff and instructors, you interact with students every day—and sometimes your influence reaches far beyond the scope of your position. When students approach you about Work-Integrated Learning and field placements or ask for advice and insights about education and career goals, we are here to support you.
At Careers and Experience, we enhance and support the work placement, education and career planning work you do with students.
In-class presentations and events
Let us share our knowledge about employment trends and career development with your class. Resume writing and interview workshops, job search techniques and LinkedIn presentations, alumni and industry panels—we can organize a variety of career-related events for your students.
Faculty can book presentations by via MacEwanLife. Simply log in and select “in-class presentation booking.”
Experiential learning
Experiential learning allows students to explore passions and interests, learn new skills and apply in-class theory to hands-on situations, benefiting them immensely on their career paths. If you are currently offering, or are interested in developing, experiential learning opportunities for your students, we can help.
Experiential learning (EL) opportunities benefit your students greatly. But careful planning is required to weave them into your program or course. Start the process by reviewing the resources below. Then speak to our experiential learning facilitators who can help you get things running smoothly and successfully.

ACCIDENTAL INJURY COVERAGE FOR STUDENT PLACEMENTS
Manage student placements and store documents using MacEwanLife, our career portal. This server provides a uniform and accessible way of keeping track of and managing placement information. Talk to an experiential learning advisor to learn more about MacEwanLife and to learn how it might be a good fit for your program’s EL activities.
Since 2016, MacEwan students have been able to receive formal recognition for eligible non-credit commitments through their Student Experience Record, formerly known as the co-curricular record. When students apply for jobs or other volunteer positions, they can include this transcript of non-credit activities in their applications, bolstering their resumes and helping them succeed on their career path.
As faculty and staff, you can support students’ efforts in two ways: by registering eligible activities that enhance your courses or programming and by assessing and validating activities that students ask to have added to the list of approved activities. To learn more, visit the Student Experience Record web page or contact us at ser@macewan.ca.
Additional information on the Student Experience Record is located on MacEwanLife, where you can find out which activities are already listed or request to have an activity added. If you're not familiar with MacEwanLife, our experiential learning facilitators can set you on the right path.
