MacEwan University’s Sport and Wellness department is seeking energetic and dependable Camp Counsellors for casual appointments this summer. Working directly with the Camp Leader and Camp Coordinators, you will be responsible for supporting set-up and the direct and ongoing delivery of Sport and Wellness Day Camps.

Key responsibilities include:

Supporting registrations, set up and participants drop off and pick up;
Participating in play and camp activities;
Attending to children’s needs; and
Protecting children’s health and safety.

Skills

You will have:

Strong organizational skills, with the ability to remain adaptable and work both within a team and independently;
A high degree of comfort and confidence in the water;
Excellent communication skills; and
The ability to articulate and model professional childcare practices, comfortably relate to children of all ages and demonstrate high physical and mental stamina.

Qualifications

Certified in Intermediate First Aid, or willingness to obtain the certification before staff training.
Experience in aquatics and leading sport and recreational activities.
Experience working with children and youth, with camp delivery experience being an asset.
Certification in Lifesaving Society Bronze Medallion / Bronze Cross, Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard, Swim Instructor, NCCP coaching or other related certifications is considered an asset.
Coaching or instructional experience is considered an asset.
Experience with the Family Centre for Sport and Wellness, as a facility patron, program participant, volunteer, or staff, is considered an asset.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Position Requirements

16 years of age or older.
Must be a student enrolled in secondary or post-secondary institution.
The ability to attend training sessions in May and June.
Availability to work 7 to 8 hours daily, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. from late June through to August, up to 40 hours per week.
The ability to stay in the water at our swimming facility for extended periods, carry and lift supplies, and remain attentive in noisy, disruptive, hot and cold conditions both indoors and outdoors.
The successful incumbent will be required to obtain a Police Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Check at their own cost.

The Information & Registration Assistant provides responsive, empathetic, and professional service to current, former, and future students while focusing on accuracy, collaboration, integrity, and resolution. This position serves as first point of contact in relation to all services provided by the OUR including general information, admissions, registration, fees, financial aid, and student records, as well as general information for other University

services. You will be responsible for responding to a large volume of inquiries and processing transactions via phone, email, and front counter interactions.

Key responsibilities include:

Serving students throughout the full student life cycle, helping them navigate the University systems/processes and empowering them to use services and resources that are available to them;
Responding to each inquiry using the available resources to provide appropriate, accurate and satisfactory resolution;
Using the MacEwan website and Academic Calendar as the main source for information, guiding applicants and students on how to access and navigate the resources and services available across the University;
Using the student information system, verifying and explaining status related to admissions, registration, fees, and convocation. Providing students with guidance on next steps;
Using the student information system and electronic student file, completing data entry and processing for fee assessments and payments, transcript requests, registration transactions, and student personal information changes;
Reviewing student accounts and enrollment history to troubleshoot issues with student records or registration. Coordinating with Functional Analyst as needed to understand issues and resolve and then guiding students on next steps;
Attending to all incoming mail for the Office of the University Registrar, distributing documents to appropriate staff and departments; checking and domiciling all incoming transcripts and other admissions documentation; and
Assisting and supporting with the on-boarding of new employees, including job shadowing and training.

MacEwan University is seeking a Facilities Service Worker for a full-time continuing opportunity with our Facilities department.

This position is responsible for completing event set ups and room resets across the entire University campus. You will be responsible for assisting with furniture/office moves and custodial duties as required.

Key responsibilities include:

Event Space Setup Across the University

Retrieving tables, chairs, and other event furniture and equipment from the storeroom(s), based on instruction from the Facilities Maintenance Worker who coordinates with the event client;

Transporting the event furniture and equipment to the event space, loading it onto carts or into a cube van if the event is off-site;

Setting up the event space as per received instructions and the event floor plan, assembling and placing the items as required;

Ensuring the space is set up in a manner that is safe and secure for all staff and attendees, following all fire and safety regulations; and

Ensuring the event space is clean and orderly, performing required custodial duties in cases where the custodial team has not been able to due to high demand or short turnaround times.

Post-Event Furniture & Equipment Disassembly

Disassembling the event furniture and equipment after the event is complete;

Transporting the event furniture and equipment back to the corresponding storeroom(s);

Ensuring the equipment tear down and space reset occurs in a safe manner, using the required equipment and techniques;

Ensuring the event space is clean and orderly for whomever will use the space next;

Reporting and disposing of any broken furniture or equipment; and
Utilizing FIMS (Facilities & Infrastructure Management System) to report the completion of event setups and space resets and remark on any changes that were required.

Custodial Services

Keeping the event storage spaces clean and orderly;

Performing seasonal custodial duties outside of the school term, such as floor waxing and using the mobile lifts to gain access to high up areas to dust and wash windows and surfaces; and
Other custodial duties as required.

Office & Furniture Relocation Services

Moving office furniture and equipment when required, utilizing carts and proper moving techniques; and
Other moving duties as required.

You will have:

The ability to read and understand event floorplans;

Strong written and verbal communication skills;

Basic computer knowledge;

The physical ability to lift 40lbs continually throughout a 7-hour shift;

MacEwan University is seeking a Project Manager for a 18 month, full-time non-recurring term opportunity with the Infrastructure Planning and Management department.

Reporting to the Director, Planning and Projects, the Project Manager is responsible for leading the development, design, and construction of capital building projects, infrastructure improvement projects, and strategic university sponsored projects, valued at up to $20 million. This position supports university planning and operations with effective project delivery and contributes to the delivery of the university’s master plan. The Project Manager employs project management best practices and methods to ensure work is planned and executed to meet applicable University standards, quality, code, regulatory and stakeholder requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

Comprehensive Project Planning

Developing a project scope statement as the basis for future project decisions, subdividing major project deliverables into manageable subset components;
Identifying and formulating project work breakdown structures (WBS) and stakeholder breakdown structures (SBS); and
Developing a project schedule, integrating activities and interdependencies, sequences and duration, while identifying/managing critical path milestones (CPM).

Project Execution

Organizing and implementing project execution through effective mobilization and coordination of resources;
Managing communications between internal and external stakeholders, including the coordination of design and construction meetings and inspections; and
Coordinating the completion of detailed drawings and specifications of assigned capital, renovation or infrastructure project.

Project Control Measures

Provideing status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverable, dependencies, risks and issues, and shares with Director and/or Project Sponsor(s);
Developing and delivering progress reports, proposals, briefing notes, requirements documentation and presentations to various audiences, including project team, sponsors, and key stakeholders;
Ensuring that projects are proceeding according to scope, schedule, budget and quality standards;

Project Closeout

Ensuring that all contracts are completed, settled and all open items are satisfactorily resolved;

Ensuring all activities required for an effective transition to operations, maintenance and user groups is planned, delivered and complete.

Facilities Quality Management System (QMS)

During the three year appointment, you will provide patient/client care to individuals and groups as a member of the Wellness and Psychological Services (WPS) as a member of the
counselling team. You will also spend time in kihêw waciston developing Indigenous-focused programming. This may involve collaborating with the Associate Vice-President of Indigenous Initiatives and Engagement and kihêw waciston to plan and organize culturally sensitive programming, evaluations, and events.

WPS provides professional individual counselling, case management and general assessment services to students enrolled at MacEwan University. You will apply a systemic approach to help develop the social well-being of students while simultaneously working to address broader social issues within the university that may act as a barrier to access resources and support. Members of Wellness and Psychological Services may also develop and implement mental health initiatives that align with the strategic goals of Wellness and Psychological Services and the University.

You will contribute to the Wellness & Psychological Services departmental pedagogical expertise by bringing your experience and knowledge of Indigenous ways of knowing, being and doing to facilitate curriculm, programming and resources supporting Indigenous mental health.

Key responsibilities include:

Providing in-person and telehealth/virtual counselling, case management, and
psychotherapy for a broad range of mental health and wellness concerns;
Providing basic assessment of health and well-being to address student's presenting concerns and determine appropriate treatment plans, this includes culturally appropriate plans for Indigenous students;
Providing Indigenous wellbeing practices for Indigenous students that are in alignment with Indigenous ethics;
Providing safe and affirming counselling for students;
Supporting students at risk to navigate on and off campus resources to help them
identify and understand ways to change problem areas in their lives;
Participating in case consultation activities and department meetings;
Participating in University committees and activities, and/or conducting administrative activities related to the professional practice and optional scholarly activity;
Handling other responsibilities delegated by WPS Chair and/or AVP Indigenous

Qualifications

You must hold a Master’s degree in Counselling/Clinical Psychology or Clinical Social Work and have a professional registration in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists or the Alberta College of Social Workers.

You will also have experience with professional general assessments, counselling, case
management, group facilitation, and workshop development. Prior experience in the post-secondary education system would be an asset. Other regulated health professionals and those in progress working toward a clinical designation may be considered.

The Department of Design has been graduating well-respected designers for 50 years. We are the largest Bachelor of Design program in Alberta, with more than 380 students, 45 faculty, and 55 unique design courses and the only user experience design major between Vancouver and Toronto. This degree is unique in Canada, envisioning design as not just an applied art but also an applied social science. This human-centered approach will allow students to better understand the audience/users they are designing for, and to more effectively evaluate their design outcomes.
