RESIDENCE
Diversity & Inclusion
Live, study and work in an inclusive and respectful environment at MacEwan Residence. We welcome all students and believe that a diverse community is a strong community.
Diversity and individuality are core values of MacEwan University. If you choose to live in MacEwan Residence, you become part of a community that embraces these values.
Gender-inclusive housing
To provide a safe, inclusive and supportive living experience, MacEwan Residence has a gender-inclusive housing option that lets students choose to live with whomever they choose, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression. Applicants who have a specific roommate or roommates in mind may request to share a suite with them during the application process.
If you are interested in or have questions about gender-inclusive housing, please contact us.
Welcome the world
With about 100 international students calling residence home each year, there are plenty of opportunities to learn about different countries, cultures and religions. We value the diversity that you bring to our hallways and meeting spaces and work closely with MacEwan International and Education Abroad to support you.
A place for smudging
If you want to smudge in residence, you can do so in Room 119. Email us with the date and time you’d like to smudge, so we can ensure Room 119 is available. You need to have your own medicine and supplies.
You can also smudge in kihêw waciston, the Indigenous Centre on campus. If you are smudging here, staff can provide you with sage or sweet grass.
Diversity-related resources on campus
Community Standards apply to students on all residence property (including the building and surrounding grounds) and during residence-related events, even if the event is held off site.
