Get your hands dirty and sharpen your archaeological skills in Bodo, Alberta this summer.

Located in east-central Alberta, the Bodo Archaeological Centre offers experiential educational programs for students of all ages. As an intern at the centre, you help to design and deliver these programs. Skills acquired include (but are not limited to):

  • Interpretation and public education
  • Archaeological excavation
  • Artifact analysis
  • Leadership
  • Public speaking

This field placement fulfills the requirements for ANTH 495. To be eligible, you need to meet academic prerequisites for the course and demonstrate your suitability for the demands and requirements of working at a public archaeology facility in rural Alberta. As well, because there are a limited number of internships available, you need to apply to and be interviewed for this opportunity.

Successful applicants earn three credits toward their degree, are paid an honorarium and gain valuable hands-on archaeological experience that can be applied in class or for future employment.

Priority is given to anthropology majors and minors in their second year or higher, but majors in other disciplines who have completed the prerequisites are also welcome to apply.
