Look to the north edge of campus, and it’s clear that MacEwan’s School of Business is growing as the new building that will be its home takes shape. When it is complete, the building will offer new student learning opportunities – from collaboration spaces to a live trading floor. But the School of Business is already a leader in Edmonton’s business community, and is providing students the necessary tools and skills to succeed.

Those tools sometimes include necessary post-grad certifications for certain career paths. In order to ensure that students are eligible for those certifications, several School of Business programs offer students accreditations and certifications with notable organizations, both federally and internationally.

“The accreditations that these programs have earned are a testament to our dedication to providing an exceptional experience and education for our students,” says Dean of the School of Business Dr. Richard Perlow. “Our continued efforts to be ahead of the curve ensure our students are prepared for the future of business in Edmonton, Alberta and around the world.”

MacEwan’s Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) program recently renewed its accreditation with the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD). The program is one of only four in Canada to receive the accreditation, which will be in place for three years before coming up for renewal.

While the most recent, the nod from EFMD is not the only accreditation the Bachelor of Commerce program holds. The program is nationally accredited by the Canadian Institute of Management (CIM)/Chartered Managers Canada, National Centre for Management Accreditation (NCMA), accreditations it shares with MacEwan’s Business Management Diploma.

Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) Alberta recognizes the BCom Accounting major for meeting the prerequisites required for CPA certification when a degree is presented, making the process as smooth as possible for grads entering into the field.

The BCom Supply Chain Management major, along with the Global Logistics Management program and the Executive Professional Certificate, have an accreditation agreement with the Supply Chain Canada Association.

The Chartered Professionals in Human Resources of Alberta has accredited both the Human Resources Management major and diploma, giving students a leg up in earning their own accreditations following graduation.

The Business Management Diploma in Insurance and Risk Management includes seven of the 10 courses required by the Insurance Institute of Canada for the Chartered Insurance Professional designation.

Students earning a Travel and Tourism diploma can be confident they’re ready for whatever their careers may bring. The program has received a five-star rating from the Association of Canadian Travel Agencies, making MacEwan’s the only program in Alberta to achieve that rating.
