In the largest donation to date for the MacEwan Means Business campaign, Weidner Apartment Homes has committed $1.5 million toward the new School of Business building.
Building on a longstanding relationship with MacEwan, Weidner’s donation will have a lasting impact on students and their ability to make valuable contributions to the Edmonton and Alberta economies.
“We are grateful for Weidner’s leadership in supporting this project,” says Dr. Annette Trimbee, president and vice-chancellor. “This gift provides a strong foundation for our campaign, helping us continue to build momentum, and reinforces their nearly 10-year relationship with our university.”
Since 2016, MacEwan and Weidner have enjoyed a strong, collaborative partnership, developing a property management program that furthers the career potential of grads and fills gaps in skilled professionals within the field.
"MacEwan's continuing role as a leader in business education made our decision to donate an easy one. We're also proud to support a city and a community near and dear to our hearts,” says Chairman and Founder of Weidner Apartment Homes Dean Weidner. “Let's leave a lasting impression on all who walk its halls and ensure the next generation is equipped to handle tomorrow's problems today!"
Construction of the new School of Business building is already underway and will be completed by 2027. It will allow MacEwan to accommodate 7,500 new students as the institution grows to 30,000 by 2030 and will help enhance vibrancy in Edmonton’s downtown. MacEwan is a critical partner to the downtown with an average of 20,000 people every day coming onto its campus.
