I am deeply saddened by news earlier this week, of a hate-motivated attack on the University of Waterloo campus in which two students and a professor were stabbed by an assailant during a Gender Studies lecture.

University campuses should be places where dialogue and discourse can safely occur without fear of attack or discrimination. MacEwan University staff and students stand in solidarity with our colleagues and peers at University of Waterloo in condemning violence and any other forms of hatred.

MacEwan University is a welcoming, inclusive place where diversity is celebrated and where the full spectrum of thoughts and ideas can be explored in a safe and respectful way.
