In 2021, MacEwan’s 50th anniversary celebration kicked off with the opening of a 25-year-old time capsule. Its contents – including brochures, jerseys, floppy discs and more – were displayed across campus throughout the year.

Throughout 2022, items and memories were collected from students, faculty and staff of both MacEwan and the Students’ Association of MacEwan University (SAMU) for a new time capsule. Submissions were intended to highlight what was happening during the year of the university’s 50th anniversary. The capsule has now been sealed, and will be opened as MacEwan marks its 100th year.
