More than 800 students coming to MacEwan University are being rewarded for their previous academic achievements. The Chancellor’s Scholarship Series is being distributed for the first time this semester, and will be given to new, full-time MacEwan students who have achieved exceptional grades in their previous schoolwork.
The Chancellor's Scholarships Series was recently named in honour of the appointment of Dr. Anthony Fields as MacEwan's inaugural chancellor.
“Every student deserves to pursue their passions. I’m thrilled that we can support new opportunities and provide a strong foundation for students to achieve their best,” says Dr. Fields.
The number of awards distributed increased 34.2 per cent from the 2021-22 academic year, with 813 scholarships being awarded this term. A total of $1,725,000 was awarded to incoming students, and 15 per cent of first-year students qualified for one of the scholarships.
The awards are structured into four tiers, with qualifying students receiving a specific amount based on their admission average.
- The Chancellor’s Scholarship is awarded to students who had an average of 95 to 100 per cent
- The President’s Scholarship is awarded to students who had an average of 90 to 94.99 per cent
- The Provost’s Scholarship is awarded to students who had an average of 85 to 89.99 per cent
- The Dean’s Scholarship is awarded to students who had an average of 80 to 84.99 per cent
There is no need to apply for the scholarship, as they are automatically distributed to those who qualify. To check your eligibility and read up on any rules and restrictions, head to the awards page.
The awards are distributed in two equal amounts over the Fall and Winter terms, but students must be enrolled in a full-time course load and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 in their first term in order to receive the second portion of the scholarship.
