Welcome to November. We’ve got a full slate of activities and events (online and in person), so remember to put these dates in your calendar.
November 3 marks the return of the annual Understanding Hate series. This year's Community Responses to Hate panel brings together speakers from across Canada who have been actively engaged in countering hate, bias and discrimination.
If you've ever wondered how it might feel to be less self-critical and a little kinder to yourself, join counsellors from Wellness and Psychological Services on November 4 for Taming Your Inner Critic: A Self-Compassion Workshop.
Do you know someone who could use a change of program or is looking to start university? Tell them to check out Virtual Open House on November 6. They can learn about programs and services, tour campus, connect with faculty members and ask questions about their future.
While you take some time to yourself during Fall Reading Break, consider registering for the four-part Inquiring Mind Online workshop (running November 8 to 12) to learn about campus mental health and strategies to support mental wellbeing.
If you're looking for a different perspective, check out Articles of Faith. The Mitchell Art Gallery's latest exhibition brings together artworks and artists that explore how faith tethers us, often through ancestral practices, whether or not we choose it. On now until December 4.
On November 17, the Office of Sexual Violence Prevention, Education and Response hosts Supporting Queer and Trans Survivors of Sexual Violence. This presentation talks about how LGBTQ2S+ communities are disproportionately subjected to sexual violence and face systemic barriers to accessing support. Register now to learn about strategies for responding in ways that affirm identities and lived experiences of queer and trans survivors.
If you're dreaming about getting away, why not attend the Virtual Education Abroad Information Session on November 17 and 30. Though travel restrictions are ongoing at this time, there are still opportunities for (and benefits of) taking your education abroad.
The third session in the Enlightened Economy Summit 2021 Event Series drops on November 18. In Making the Most of Your Volunteer Work, a panel of special guests hope to inspire you to leverage your skills, experience and personality to help out the causes you care about.
Then dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge in the Dodgeball Tournament on November 20 — but be sure to register by November 16 to take part.
On November 23, kihêw waciston Indigenous Centre and the hosts of 2 Crees in a Pod invite Dr. Gabor Maté to an online discussion about his Compassionate Inquiry, a therapeutic method that reveals what lies beneath the appearance we present to the world.
