CENTRE for SEXUAL and GENDER DIVERSITY

PARTNERSHIPS

Thriving communities are built through mindful collaborations, and we are proud of the work we accomplish with our community partners. Through campus and community partnerships, the work we do extends far beyond the centre’s walls.

Rainbow Health Clinic

Walk into the MacEwan University Health Centre and you'll see friendly staff wearing rainbow lanyards and pins announcing their pronouns. These are visible representations of the centre’s commitment to inclusivity and to providing services to all members of the community, such as ongoing health and mental health services, an STI clinic and the “Rainbow Clinic,” a unique program designed as a safe space that provides specialized, inclusive care to 2SLGBTQ+ patients who study and work at MacEwan.

Anyone at MacEwan who identifies as 2SLGBTQ+ or questioning is welcome to access the health centre’s Rainbow Clinic.

Pride Tape

Supported by the Centre for Sexual and Gender Diversity, Pride Tape is a grassroots community initiative designed to support 2SLGBTQ+ inclusion in sport. Pride Tape is a badge of support from teammates, coaches, parents and pros to young 2SLGBTQ+ players. It shows every player that they belong playing the game they love. Pride Tape began in Edmonton and is now featured in more than 30 countries around the world and in a variety of sports, including hockey, baseball, rugby, lacrosse, softball, dodgeball and more.

Together, MacEwan's Centre for Sexual and Gender Diversity and Pride Tape have developed Champion for Change—a resource for learning how to create more inclusive, welcoming and respectful sporting environments for everyone.
