FACULTY of ARTS and SCIENCE
Business Law Minor
Law and legal issues affect us all. A business law minor provides an opportunity to enrich your studies and explore legal issues and topics that impact society, organizations and individuals.
Studies in business law offer a perspective on a range of legal issues as well as the theories of law—including ethical aspects of the origins, content and enforcement of laws. In this minor, you learn to identify and analyze legal problems, consult and apply legal resources, formulate legitimate and ethical responses and strategies, and communicate those results coherently.
The minor in business law complements other disciplines—particularly political science, philosophy, sociology, psychology, economics and the natural sciences—and prepares you for future professional activities (such as law) and for graduate studies. Outside the required courses for the minor, you can customize your legal studies to emphasize competencies that are relevant to your interests.
Program of study
This minor is open to students in the Bachelor of Arts and the Bachelor of Science. Courses for your minor are only one component of the degree requirements you need to graduate. To see all courses required for the minor, check the program of study in the academic calendar.
Requirements can change from year to year. You will follow the program of study outlined in MacEwan University’s Academic Calendar for the year you declare your major/minor or the year you are accepted into an Honours program.
Academic advisors in the Faculty of Arts and Science have prepared resources to help you understand how your major/minor fits within overall degree coursework. Consult the academic planning information to choose and enrol in courses and complete the major/minor declaration process.
