STUDIOS & WORKSPACES

Design studios

Each of our three modern design studios can accommodate up to 30 students on large-scale work desks for hands-on learning and collaboration. The studios are equipped with high-end laser projectors, a laser printer, cutting mats and a sink for cleaning art supplies. Magnetic whiteboard walls provide you with the space you need for brainstorming, showcasing group mockups and displaying sketches during class critiques.

Photo studios

No matter the scope of your shoot, we have the space for your ideas to flourish, with two-storey white infinity walls that blend floor to wall seamlessly, making high-key photography a snap. Each studio has the equipment you need to realize your creative vision, including hot lights, strobes, softboxes, gels, scrims, reflectors and backdrops.

Our largest studio has both greenscreen and black backdrop curtains on tracks, while our kitchen studio is perfect for product photography and commercial staging in natural light. The photo studio green room, equipped with lighted mirrors and a sink, provides your models with privacy and comfort while they prep for the shoot.

Drawing studios

Create your next masterpiece in our large and airy drawing studios. The studios accommodate up to 30 students and give you the option of working from an easel, stool, table, drawing board or bench.

Choose from natural light, hot lights and built-in track lighting to create the perfect mood for your still life, created from our collection of interesting props and plinths, or for your session with a model. And because drawing can be messy business, each studio is equipped with a sink to make clean-up a breeze.

Video edit suites

Make the final cut on video and motion graphics projects in our professional video edit suites. These four spaces offer acoustic soundproofing and privacy, along with a microphone for recording voice-overs and high-end computer hardware to help you handle the most intensive renders. The larger suite provides space for an entire class to follow instructor demos, while the smaller stop-motion suite is equipped with the tools to bring your animated ideas to life.

Workroom and plan chest room

Need a place to put your project together or to work as a group? The student workroom, an 1,100-square-foot space with bright west-facing windows, is perfect for creative collaboration. Work stations with cutting mats and power outlets offer plenty of space. You can use light tables, dry-mount presses, paper cutters and more— everything you need to prepare for your next critique.

Works in progress can be safely stored in the plan chest room, which is accessible only to students in the Department of Design and is open all day. You can choose a drawer or a locker to keep your work secure.
