BACHELOR of DESIGN
STUDENT WORK
An infographic to improve Edmonton Transit’s rider safety, an award-winning short film, an app to help students with mental health challenges, album covers for MacEwan’s in-house record label—study here and take part in hands-on, real-world design projects that attract future employers and help make the world a better place.
Through capstone projects, field placements, internships and community-engaged learning, you gain skills and experience that give you an edge after graduation. Our learn-by-doing philosophy means you leave the program ready for the workplace.
Stellar designs
At MacEwan University, you learn that good design is beautiful, inspirational, motivational, useful and practical. It considers the ways people interact with a product—how it makes them think, feel and behave.
Portfolio show
Graduating students have the opportunity to curate, exhibit and promote their best work in the portfolio show. In preparation for the event, you meet with industry professionals who mentor you through the portfolio development process. Then you select and display the designs you are most proud of. On opening night, you can enjoy the spotlight, promoting your work to designers, alumni and potential employers.
Hands-on with Bent River records
Since 2016, MacEwan University's record label, Bent River Records, has partnered with the Design program to produce artworks for the label’s releases through an album design contest. This project has led to impressive creations by MacEwan’s design students, guided by Associate Professor, Constanza Pacher.
