About
Svetlana Sech is a professionally trained opera singer and teacher. Beauty of voice and technical accomplishments are the hallmarks of her performances on stage. Her specialty is the Bel Canto Technique – a technique that offers versatility in voice and allows you to sound like an opera singer one minute, and a rock or pop singer the next. Once the bel canto technique is demystified, one can take the singing world by storm and she is there to guide her students through that adventure. She has acquired the bel canto technique of singing by working with world-renowned singers, voice teachers, and coaches.
After receiving her Bachelor of Music at the State Music Academy in Lviv (1993,Ukraine), she continued her training at the Merola Opera Program in San Francisco (1994) and with Professor Mary Morrison and Stuart Hamilton in Toronto (1995-1999).
Over the years, Svetlana sang with many opera companies and symphonies in Canada, the US, and Ukraine. She has also performed as a solo guest with many choirs including Richard Eaton Singers, Vancouver Bach Choir, and Pro Coro.
Svetlana is also an experienced educator. She has been teaching at the Conservatory of Music MacEwan University since 2002 and received her Bachelor of Education at Concordia University (2003).
