PRIVATE LESSONS | PIANO, FLUTE

conservatory instructor
It is my hope that I will be an attentive, enthusiastic, inspiring guide who will assist students in learning efficient practise habits to enable accurate and imaginative playing. The ultimate goal is for a student to leave lessons with skills to enjoy making music for their lifetime!

About

Margaret King grew up in Swift Current, Saskatchewan, where she began her musical studies with her mother, Marilyn King. During this time she also took flute lessons with Randi Nelson in Saskatoon. She then moved to Lethbridge, Alberta, where she trained with Glen Montgomery and Dean Blair at University of Lethbridge and taught at the University Conservatory.

Since moving to Edmonton in 1995, she has been fortunate to be a collaborative pianist with numerous choirs/choral programs including The Cantilon Choirs, Edmonton Children’s Choir, Singspiration, the Greenwood Singers, Ante Meridiem, Vocal Alchemy, Pro Coro Canada, Chandra Tala, and, most recently, The King’s University Community Chorus. From 2010-2021, she also enjoyed collaborating with the voice students of Jolaine Kerley at the University of Alberta and Concordia University of Edmonton.

Margaret loves to write music. Her music (primarily choral) has been performed across Canada, the United States and Europe.
