About

Dutch violinist and violist, Laura Veeze, has reached audiences on three continents as a soloist, recitalist and chamber musician.

A passionate teacher, Laura served on the string faculty at Acadia University over the past four years teaching violin, viola and the string orchestra and was a coach of the Netherlands Youth String Orchestra. As a chamber musician, Ms. Veeze was a founding member of the piano trio “Ensemble Pavone” in the Netherlands, the Blue Engine String Quartet in Nova Scotia and is a frequent guest artist at Festivals such as Scotia Festival, Musique Royale and the Acadia Summer Strings Festival. She has collaborated with artists such as Jonathan Crow, Denise Djokic, Mark Fewer and Robert Uchida.

From 2007-2012 she was principal second violin of the Radio Chamber Philharmonic in the Netherlands and in the 2012-2013 season she served as Principal Second violin of Symphony Nova Scotia. She has worked with many illustrious conductors including Jaap van Zweden, Peter Oundjian, Valery Gergiev and Frans Bruggen.

Ms. Veeze studied in Amsterdam with Lex Korff de Gidts and Alexander Kerr and in New York City with Sylvia Rosenberg at the Manhattan School of Music.

Lesson

Laura offers private violin and viola lessons in-person or online at the Alberta College Campus. Lessons are available for intermediate and advanced students with a minimum RCM Level 4 or equivalent.

Awards / grants / fellowships

She has been the recipient of several awards including first prize in the National Lions Club Competition of Holland and a top prize in the Dutch National Chamber Music Competition.
