PRIVATE LESSONS | PIANO

conservatory instructor
My students can expect a friendly atmosphere, a grounding in basic music reading skills combined with expressive musicianship, and flexibility in repertoire choices (classical supplemented with pop, chording, contemporary).

About

Judy has taught piano at the Conservatory since 1973. Judy studied piano with Helmut Brauss at the University of Alberta, and harpsichord with Richard Troeger. Further harpsichord lessons were with Jacques Ogg during several summers at the Vancouver Early Music Program. Judy enjoys collaborating as pianist and/or harpsichordist with vocalists, instrumentalists and choirs.

Lessons

Judy teaches online and in-person at the Alberta College Campus.

She offers lessons for ages 7 to adult, from beginner levels up to and including level 10 RCM. She teaches many adult students, some of whom are beginners and others who are returning to piano after a hiatus.

She is happy to prepare students for Royal Conservatory exams if they so desire, and schedules performance opportunities in recitals and group classes.

She encourages her students to supplement their classical repertoire with pop, jazz and chording skills.
