MUSICIANSHIP & THEORY

Learning theory helps you develop musicianship skills to play with other musicians, improvise, tune your instrument, sing in pitch, compose music, transcribe melodies and chords.

Music Rudiments gives a strong foundation in understanding musical notation. It improves the efficiency of learning and playing music.

Ear training deepens the understanding of pitches, intervals, chords, scales and modes, chord progressions and cadences, and rhythm. This supports collaboration with other musicians and improved musicality.

Harmony & Counterpoint helps with writing various musical parts, improvisation, and understanding melodic decoration.

History provides context for musical pieces. This helps create informed musical interpretations and inspiration for compositions.

Private, semi-private, and group lessons are available for all levels and all areas of theory including rudiments, harmony, counterpoint, analysis, and history.

Prepare in advance for post-secondary or music exams such as Royal Conservatory, Conservatory Canada or Associated Board examinations.

All of our music theory teachers have the experience and credentials to provide quality instruction needed.

Performance Coaching helps with overcoming stage fright, building self-esteem, and captivating audiences. Learn mindfulness and acting techniques so you can present yourself with confidence for recitals, exams, competition, festivals, auditions and public speaking. Private sessions are available for children to adults, beginner to professional instrumentalists and vocalists.
