CLINICAL SIMULATION CENTRE

Home Care Lab

Caring for a person who has just returned home from surgery, showing at-home patients how to use medical equipment that is new to them, teaching family caregivers to meet the needs of their loved ones—these are just a few of the skills that students practice in the home care lab.

This space simulates a home-like environment where students from therapist assistant, nursing, police and security programs practice skills in life-like scenarios.

The Home Care Lab hosts the Pets Assisting with Student Success program (PAWSS), which was created in 2017 as a way to help students reduce their stress levels during exam week. All students are welcome at PAWSS drop-in events.
