DEPARTMENT of HUMAN SERVICES and EARLY LEARNING

RESEARCH

When we undertake research, we dive more deeply into topics of interest and importance. Whether you are supporting faculty members with their research or conducting your own, research opens doors to further learning.

Ensuring the best for early learners

Our department played a key role in creating Flight: Alberta's Early Learning and Care Framework. In collaboration with Mount Royal University, we developed and piloted this made-in-Alberta curriculum for early childhood educators.

On-campus research and mentorship

As a licensed childcare centre, Early Learning at MacEwan (ELM) provides services to the university community, with qualified early childhood educators working closely with families to ensure a safe, nurturing environment for play, care, learning and development. For the faculty and students in our department, the centre also provides the opportunity for research, innovation and education right on campus.

As well, our faculty provide ELM staff with pedagogical mentorship, guidance and up-to-date information on emerging theories, research and best practices.
