QUALTRICS

MacEwan University has an institutional license for Qualtrics, a survey software for conducting online surveys. This license provides free access to Qualtrics for eligible MacEwan users.

Using Qualtrics, you can:

  • Create surveys using a large library of question types and response options.
  • Use powerful survey flow logic options to tailor your survey.
  • Advance visualizations and reporting.
  • Download data to Excel or SPSS for additional analysis.

Acceptable use guidelines

Eligible MacEwan users

Eligible MacEwan users include:

  • MacEwan faculty who hold an active full-time faculty appointment that contains research within its position duties
  • MacEwan students (under the supervision of a faculty member)
  • MacEwan staff may be eligible to use Qualtrics under the institutional license, if working on research and creative activities, as well as academic or administrative projects related to MacEwan.

Policies and terms of use

MacEwan-licensed Qualtrics is for professional use only. Personal use is strictly prohibited. If you are eligible or have been granted access to use Qualtrics, you are responsible for being knowledgeable of, and abiding by, the following policies and terms of use. 

By using the Qualtrics survey platform, you will:

  1. Ensure compliance with related university policies and guidelines, which include, but are not limited to the following:
  2. Obtain necessary ethical reviews and approvals before publishing any research survey. All research surveys must adhere to Research Ethics Board (REB) guidelines. Users are required to abide by the policy statements outlined in the Tri-Council Policy Statement (TCPS2). Users are strongly encouraged to review the TCPS2 on how to apply these core principles (special attention is given to voluntary informed consent, and expectation of privacy with respect to recruitment, participation, data storage, and the disclosure of results).
  3. Ensure copyright and legal compliance.
  4. Ensure compliance with the Qualtrics terms of service.
  5. Ensure compliance with applicable accessibility requirements. Qualtrics provides a “Check Survey Accessibility” feature that diagnoses your survey and indicates which questions are inaccessible and gives other recommendations for increased accessibility.
  6. Not spam or use other forms of unsolicited mass communication in conjunction with Qualtrics.
  7. Accept responsibility and liability related to the creation and distribution of the survey. Any views and opinions expressed are strictly those of the survey’s primary author. MacEwan will not be liable for any damages of any kind arising from the use of or inability to use Qualtrics survey software. The user expressly agrees to use Qualtrics survey software solely at their own risk. Faculty who supervise student use and access to Qualtrics are expected to give general oversight of acceptable use of Qualtrics by the student.

Access Qualtrics

  1. Go to the Qualtrics website.
  2. Log in with your MacEwan Single Sign-On (SSO).

Request Qualtrics support

The Qualtrics Support Team can provide support assistance for the account that you use to log in to the support site.

  1. Go to Qualtrics Support.
  2. Select Sign in with SSO.
  3. Enter macewan (all lowercase) in the organization ID field.
  4. Log in with your MacEwan username and password.
  5. Select your support request topic.
