Support for Data Management, Statistical Analysis & Visualization
The Statistical Consulting Centre in the Department of Mathematics & Statistics can ensure that the data you gather supports your research goals. What is an ideal sample size for the research study you’re proposing? Which methods should you use for proper data analysis? How should the statistical results be interpreted? Consulting statistics experts to support your research enhances your credibility as a serious researcher.
MacEwan University has an institutional license for Qualtrics, a survey software for conducting online surveys. This license provides free access to Qualtrics for eligible MacEwan users.
MacEwan University has an institutional license for NVivo, a computer software program that assists researchers to manage, analyze and visualize qualitative data and documents systematically and individually. This license provides free access to NVivo for eligible MacEwan users, with up to ten users able to access NVivo at one time.
MacEwan is an academic partner in the ELIXR Simulations consortium - ELIXR Simulations Through ELIXR we get access to Extended Reality tools such as the EON XR Platform. For more information on getting access to the EON Platform, please contact the Office of Research Service.
MacEwan University has an institutional license for Covidence, a web-based tool for research reviews that helps faculty through the process of importing and screening references, data extraction, and keeping track of work.
Research data is an important output from scholarly activities and must be maintained throughout the entirety of the research data lifecycle. This includes data management planning and data deposit, use, preservation, and disposal. MacEwan has a Research Data Management Strategy that guides the development of policies and procedures that facilitate and encourage research data management best practices.

Safeguarding research is an essential part of planning scholarly activities and there are a number of resources available to assist with how to best protect yourself and your scholarly work. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to research@macewan.ca.
Policy on Sensitive Technology Research and Affiliations of Concern
ITS is offering personalized service for faculty and staff who are planning to travel outside of Edmonton. Since needs and solutions can vary depending on travel destination, an ITS representative will meet with you to understand your needs and recommend approaches to secure data and connect you to MacEwan's digital services while on the road. ITS is developing formal processes for requesting this service. Until then, you can reach out to one of the following ITS leaders: Ryan Pede, Director Workplace Services; Thomas Wong Matthews, Chief Information Security Officer, or David Almond, CIO.
MacEwan University has established travel management protocols for researchers planning to travel abroad. Health, Safety & Environment established these protocols and can aid in guiding your safety and security practices when outside of Canada.

Research ReCast(ed) Podcast
MacEwan’s own research podcast hosted by MacEwan student staff explores the scholarly and creative activities happening at MacEwan University with a focus on how faculty influence and/or incorporate students, teaching and the larger community into their projects. Each episode, the hosts are joined by a MacEwan faculty member to dive into their scholarly projects and bring them to life. You can submit your scholarly activities or a colleague's scholarly activities via our Knowledge Mobilization Reporting Form so that we, along with the Office of Communications and Marketing, can gather a reserve of MacEwan scholarship happening on- and off-campus for dissemination purposes.
The MacEwan University Library supports faculty at all stages of scholarly activity. Publishing and sharing scholarly works in open access journals, books, and institutional repositories can extend the reach and potential impact of your scholarly activity. MacEwan University Library offers resources and services to support faculty seeking open access options.
Research Impact Canada has many resources to help faculty become successful in the emerging field of mobilization and creates opportunities for collaboration and leadership. Get access to knowledge mobilization centres of expertise for regional and/or provincial collaboration and learn about best practices, and gain tools, and resources.
Community-Based Research
