In July 2006, the Kules donated an additional $250,000 to URDC which created an endowment of $750,000 in the Kule Visiting Scholar Fund.
Natalie Adamiuk and Lesia Leshchenko
The first two recipients of the award were Natalie Adamiuk and Lesia Leshchenko, two deaf researchers from Ukraine. During their three-month stay in the fall of 2010, Adamiuk and Leshchenko visited various cities across Canada, learned about education for the deaf, sign language instruction and coding of sign language using recent technology. Both speakers gave a number of public presentations while in Canada.
