1. Foster faculty development and scholarship of teaching and learning throughout the University.
2. Provide advice and feedback about Faculty Development programming to the Faculty Development Coordinator and Faculty Commons Director.
3. Review and establish allocation percentages for the three categories of professional development in compliance with the Faculty/Board Collective Agreement and Faculty Development Policy.
4. Administer faculty university-wide professional development activities, faculty training or retraining, and funding for professional leaves including faculty exchange programs and career assignments.
5. Liaise with Faculty/School/Department Decentralized Faculty Development Committees.
6. Provide input and advice on faculty development coordinator selection and annual performance review.

6.0 UNIVERSITY FACULTY DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
6.1 The University will establish a University Faculty Development Committee
which is comprised of the following membership:
one representative from each faculty or school, and one representative from professional resource staff.
For each faculty or school faculty members will sit on their respective Decentralized Faculty/School Faculty Development Committee.
Vice President Professional Affairs, MacEwan Faculty Association three administrative members including:
- The Director, Faculty Commons,
- The Provost and Executive Vice President Academic or designate and a representative from Human Resources.
- The Faculty Development Coordinator, who serves as Chair
6.2 University Faculty Development Committee shall allocate faculty development funds in accordance with the guidelines specified in the Board/Faculty Collective Agreement and the Faculty Development Policy. The Committee is also responsible for the administration of university-wide professional development activities, instructional projects, faculty training or retraining and funding for professional leaves including faculty exchange programs and career assignments.
6.3 University Faculty Development Committee shall provide reports on programming and finances to the University Budget Committee, the Provost and Executive Vice President Academic, and Faculty Association on a fiscal basis.
6.4 The major responsibilities of the Faculty Development Committee are to:

6.5 The University Faculty Development Committee shall publish criteria, guidelines and procedures for allocating faculty professional development funding in alignment with the Board/Faculty Collective Agreement and this policy.
6.6 The work of the University Faculty Development Committee and the coordinator shall be supported through MacEwan’s Faculty Commons.
