NATIONAL COACHING CERTIFICATION PROGRAM (NCCP)
The National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) is a coach training and certification program for 66 different sports and is offered in both official languages across Canada. NCCP workshops are designed to meet the needs of all types of coaches, from the first-time coach to the head coach of the national team. The NCCP is the recognized national standard for coach training and certification in Canada.

AFLCA Certification
The Alberta Fitness Leadership Certification Association (AFLCA) offers certification in the following areas of group exercise leadership: Aquatic Exercise, Resistance Training, Fitness for the Older Adult, Group Exercise Leader, (areas of specialization are Portable Equipment, Choreography, Step, Cycling, Mind/Body). MacEwan will be offering the following:
Exercise Theory » $210
A minimum 24-hour course covering basic fitness principles and a variety of activity experiences. Course topics include: anatomy, physiology, movement mechanics, training and conditioning, nutrition, leadership and health and fitness.
We recommend that you complete the Exercise Theory course prior to the specialization courses.
Resistance Specialty Training » $180
A minimum 20-hour course covering topics such as leading, shaping, toning, circuit, introductory weight training programs, monitoring fitness centre, and/or weight room orientation. Topics covered include: techniques and precautions; exercise analysis; design; anatomy; program design; specialty background; safety considerations; training methods; nutrition and drugs and resistance training with women, older adults and youth.
AFLCA RECERT » $105
Recertify your group fitness leader award with this eight-hour course. This course can be taken up to 6 months prior to certification expiry date.
