Faculty Development Coordinator

MacEwan University invites applications from faculty for a secondment opportunity as Faculty Development Coordinator. Reporting to the Director of the Centre for the Advancement of Faculty Excellence (or CAFÉ, formerly known as the Faculty Commons), the Coordinator collaborates with all MacEwan faculty members in support of their professional and academic development. The Coordinator chairs the Faculty Development Committee and liaises with the Faculty/School (decentralized) Faculty Development Committees.
Working closely with colleagues in the CAFÉ and with academic leaders across the institution, this is a key position that supports organizational transitions and academic leadership.
Key Responsibilities include:
• Providing leadership on faculty development matters
• Planning, coordinating and implementing a wide range of faculty development programming that meets individual and organizational goals to enhance teaching, learning and research/scholarly activity/creative achievement
• Evaluating faculty professional development activities and initiatives
• Developing resources, web materials and handbooks
• Organizing New Faculty Orientation, Chair workshops and Faculty Development Day
• Consulting with faculty members one-to-one
• Administering faculty development funds
• Responding to faculty member requests and identifying opportunities
Ideal candidates for this secondment opportunity will have a doctoral degree with experience on university committees related to faculty development initiatives. Position requirements include excellent communication and collaborative skills, facilitation skills, well established teaching and scholarly activity portfolios, and a commitment to advancing MacEwan University’s academic plans.
This is a secondment opportunity for continuing faculty members on a full-time basis for a three-year period (July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2017). There is a possibility for two candidates to job share this position, each on a 0.5 FTE secondment. (Candidates should indicate their interest in a shared secondment when submitting their application.) The faculty member(s) maintains faculty status while seconded to the Coordinator position.
This secondment will commence in July 2014 or as negotiated at the time of appointment.
