Strategic Business and Financial Operations Manager

As the Strategic Business and Financial Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the strategic planning to assist in the development, coordination and analysis of business plan and briefing note proposals; prepare and coordinate the annual budget; prepare forecast and variance analysis; compile, analyze, and produce accurate and timely financial information and provide recommendations for improvement; review operational business practices to ensure it is in compliance with GAAP, and the university’s policies, principles and practices; and assist with the coordination of projects that arise from strategic planning activities.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the senior leadership team in Student Services, and will liaison between Student Services, Financial Services, and Institutional Analysis and Planning, Human Resources, and Internal Audit and Procurement to ensure compliance with the appropriate corporate stewardship and fiduciary responsibilities are sustained.

Our successful candidate must have the following:
• A Professional Accounting designation, or a combination of education and experience will be considered
• Business Analyst Training
• Technical Writing Training
• Course work in project management would be an asset
• Higher Education Leadership Training would be an asset
• Minimum of five (5) years relevant accounting experience in a medium or large organization
• Experience in project management, planning, and research
• Experience with internal and external audits
• Extensive experience with PeopleSoft, nVision reporting and Excel, at a financial, managerial level
• Successful experience in a post-secondary environment would be an asset
• Experience in writing business cases and project management would be an asset
