The Director of Internal Audit Services will provide expertise and leadership to the University and will develop and deliver a comprehensive Internal Audit Program. Internal Audit Services reports administratively to the Vice President and General Counsel but has direct access to the Audit Committee of the Board of Governors. Internal Audit Services is an independent function within the University and will carry out its work objectively.
The position will lead the Internal Audit Services department, and will be responsible for ensuring the maintenance of professional audit staff with sufficient knowledge, skills, experience, and professional certification to meet the requirements of the internal audit policy and the annual risk based audit plan. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and maintaining the audit universe and the annual risk based audit plan, conducting financial, operational and compliance audits that provide independent and objective assurance, as well as providing consulting services designed to add value to the University’s activities.
The internal audit activity will meet or exceed the “International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing” of the Institute of Internal Auditors.
The ideal candidate will have a professional accounting designation coupled with a CIA or CISA designation. A minimum of eight years in internal audit is required, with at least two years in a senior capacity. With strong communication skills and an ability to work collaboratively and form effective working relationships with all levels and areas of the University, the successful candidate must have strong technical skills and a risk based focus.
