MacEwan Anti-Violence Education Network (MAVEN) Peer Education Program offers a unique and valuable opportunity to receive comprehensive training on sexual violence prevention. When you complete the training, you become a Peer Educator and work towards building a culture of consent at MacEwan by facilitating workshops and assisting with outreach activities.
This program is designed to foster and support student leadership, recognizing that you are a powerful agent for social change.

This volunteer opportunity is open to people of all genders who will be registered MacEwan University students during the 2025/26 school year. Candidates must be 18 years of age or older at the time of application. We are seeking empathetic, non-judgmental, and committed individuals who want to contribute to the campus community in a meaningful way. We welcome applications from students with strong time-management skills, familiarity with campus life, willingness to learn new skills, and the desire to actively contribute to a world without violence.
- MAVEN Peer Educators are required to complete 52 hours of training in Fall 2025 and a training retreat in January 2026. Attendance at all sessions is mandatory. Below are the training and retreat dates for 2025/26:

- Peer Educators are required to attend weekly team meetings throughout the academic year, held on Monday afternoons from 4 to 6 p.m.
- Peer Educators must be able to dedicate a minimum of 15 hours per month to volunteer activities from September 2025 to April 2026.
- New volunteers must be able to commit to both Fall and Winter semesters in 2025/26.
There are three steps in the selection process:
- Submit the MAVEN Peer Educator application form no later than May 10, 2025.
- Short-listed applicants will be invited to take part in an interview with OSVPER staff, beginning in March. Only short-listed applicants will be contacted.
- Successful applicants must complete our comprehensive volunteer training in August and September 2025.
