French

Whether you are learning French for the first time or building on existing skills and knowledge, studying French at MacEwan will help you engage with an increasingly culturally and economically interconnected world.

Because French is one of Canada’s two official languages, adding it to your program of study makes you more marketable in your job search, especially if you are looking for work in the federal public service. A French minor is also a valuable teaching field for students headed to an education program and an asset for admission to graduate programs with a second-language requirement.

In our French minor, you study prominent philosophical, literary and artistic francophone traditions. As you develop your language skills, you also develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills and broaden your appreciation of the world and its people. If you have a passion for literature, film, art and culture, then a minor in French may be the perfect complement to your major.
